About

The IMPACT Collaboratory 2024 Scientific Conference on embedded Pragmatic Clinical Trials (ePCTs) in Dementia is an annual event to disseminate knowledge, promote research development, and engage partners to improve the care and health outcomes of people living with dementia (PLWD) and their care partners.

IMPACT Collaboratory Background

Over six million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) or AD and Related Dementias, and this number is projected to increase over time. PLWD are especially vulnerable to receiving inadequate care, increasing the risk of adverse health outcomes and reducing quality of life. Strategies to improve care must be informed by high-quality evidence. ePCTs have the potential to accelerate the translation of evidence-based interventions into clinical practice.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) Imbedded Pragmatic Alzheimer’s Disease and AD-Related Dementias Clinical Trials (IMPACT) Collaboratory was established in 2019 to build the nation’s capacity to conduct pragmatic clinical trials of interventions embedded within health care systems for people living with dementia and their care partners.
