\"\"<\/a>Deborah Philp, Ph.D. is a program director in the Education and Training Section of the <\/span>Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program<\/b><\/a> Branch within NCATS’ <\/span>Division of Clinical Innovation<\/b><\/a>, where she manages the R03 portfolio of CTSA grants. Prior to joining NCATS, Dr. Philp was a research training specialist in the Office of Research Training and Special Programs in the Division of Extramural Activities at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), where she managed research training for the K, R25 and T32 programs. She served as program officer for the R25 program and introduced the Institute\u2019s first R25 program focused on research education and training for diverse trainee populations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to her tenure at NIAID, Dr. Philp was the intramural training director and director of the Office of Education at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). As the intramural training director, she established and coordinated intramural programs that enhanced the intramural research training experience at all levels and increased diversity in the biomedical research trainee workforce at NIDCR. She received the Harvey J. Bullock Equal Opportunity Achievement NIH Director\u2019s Award for these efforts. She\u00a0 was also recognized as a part of the NIH Director\u2019s Award to the NIH Anti-Harassment Policy Development Team in recognition of the team\u2019s commitment to creating a safe learning environment for the next generation of research scientists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Philp earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in biology from the City College of New York (CUNY) and her doctorate in molecular and cellular biology at the CUNY Graduate Center. She conducted postdoctoral studies in wound healing and angiogenesis at NIDCR. Her postdoctoral studies lead to over 14 publications and a patent for the novel discovery of a peptide\u2019s role in hair growth.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
