He is co-leader of the UW Carbone Cancer Center Imaging and Radiation Sciences program and faculty director of the Graduate Program in Clinical Investigation within the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. He completed his MD, PhD and residency training at the University of North Carolina \u2013 Chapel Hill. His first post-doc was performed under the guidance of Carolyn Sartor studying radiation biology in breast cancer. He then moved to Wisconsin where he completed a postdoc in viral oncology with Paul Lambert. He is a board-certified radiation oncologist who\u2019s clinical care focuses on patients with malignancies of the head and neck. His lab develops patient-derived model systems which they utilize to study novel therapeutic approaches in head and neck cancer including combinations of radiation and chemotherapy.
