Barbara McMakin, M.S., joined the NIH’s National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) in 2013 as a science writer and has been a member of the NINDS Press Team. She has recently led the development of the updated Mind Your Risks public health campaign. Prior to joining NINDS, Ms. McMakin was a Communications Editor at the National Cancer Institute’s Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine and a Publications Manager at the Association for Psychological Science. Ms. McMakin earned a Masters in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh.
