Sheryl L. Frierson, M.D., M.Ed., is the Medical Director of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children in Dallas, Texas. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental / Behavioral Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is board-certified in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and Pediatrics.

She earned her medical degree at the University of California at San Diego and completed a pediatric residency at Oakland Children’s Hospital. She practiced primary care pediatrics for seven years before pursuing fellowship training in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore. At the Kennedy Krieger Institute and later at Vanderbilt University, her research focused on the neurobiological underpinnings of reading disorders and ADHD.  Since coming to Dallas in 2019, her clinical and research focus has shifted to dyslexia outcomes and the impact of dyslexia-related public policies.
