Randy Kimple, MD PhD MBA, is an Associate Professor and Director of Cancer Biology and Translational Medicine in the Department of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He is co-leader of the UW Carbone Cancer Center Imaging and Radiation Sciences program and faculty director of the Graduate Program in Clinical Investigation within the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. He completed his MD, PhD and residency training at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. His first post-doc was performed under the guidance of Carolyn Sartor studying radiation biology in breast cancer. He then moved to Wisconsin where he completed a postdoc in viral oncology with Paul Lambert. He is a board-certified radiation oncologist who’s clinical care focuses on patients with malignancies of the head and neck. His lab develops patient-derived model systems which they utilize to study novel therapeutic approaches in head and neck cancer including combinations of radiation and chemotherapy. They also study radiation induced normal tissue toxicity using animal models with a focus on radiation induced salivary dysfunction.
