C. Ryan Miller, MD, PhD is the Vishnu Reddy Translational Research Endowed Professor in the Department of Pathology, Director of the Division of Neuropathology at UAB, and a Senior Scientist in the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and Comprehensive Neuroscience Center. His research and clinical efforts are focused on primary brain tumors, particularly gliomas. He moved his laboratory to UAB in Summer 2019. Prior to that, he was at UNC Chapel Hill and its Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center from 2007-2019. He served as Faculty Director for the Translational Pathology Laboratory, a Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center core facility from 2008-2019. He is a former Damon Runyon-Genentech Clinical Investigator (2009-2012). He serves on the Neuropathology and Neuro-oncology Committees for NCI Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. He recently completed a subcontract from Mayo Clinic to perform RNA-seq analysis on recurrent human GBM samples from an Alliance Phase I/II clinical trial of vorinostat. This work relied on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) next-generation sequencing infrastructure he utilized while at UNC. He was a member of the TCGA Disease and Analysis Working Groups for glioblastoma and lower-grade gliomas. He established his independent research laboratory in 2010 and has since developed multiple genetically engineered models of gliomas for use in genomics-driven preclinical experimental therapeutics.
