H. Isaac Chen, MD

H. Isaac Chen, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as the Neurosurgery Residency Program Director and Surgical Director of the Penn Epilepsy Center. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Biochemical Sciences at Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Chen’s clinical practice encompasses functional neurosurgery and the treatment of brain tumors, especially those in eloquent brain areas. He runs a translational research laboratory focused on developing novel strategies for rebuilding brain circuity after injury using principles and techniques derived from stem cell biology, neural tissue engineering, and neural interfaces.
