Risheng Xu, MD, PhD

Risheng Xu MD/PhD is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Assistant Program Director at Johns Hopkins. He treats patients with skull base pathology and cerebrovascular conditions using both open and endovascular techniques. His PhD doctoral training explored mechanisms of higher inositol phosphate biology and its roles in neuronal cell death and plasticity. During his residency, he was supported by the NREF and R25 investigating molecular mechanisms underlying trigeminal neuralgia. His current research focuses on mechanisms of neuroinflammation after stroke, and is supported by the K08 mechanism.
